The month kicked off with one of our favourite avenues of fundraising – cycling. Inspired by Ride25, we have many residents at 1MoreChild taking up the sport to support fund and awareness raising – and of course have a little fun doing so! March saw our very own Paul and Lawrence cycling in the All-Africa Games in Accra, Ghana, and continue to take on the Men’s Elite Road Race, Team Time Trial, and the Individual Time Trial. With incredible efforts, Lawrence came in 5th for the under 23’s Individual Time Trial – outstanding! We feel incredibly inspired by the teams’ efforts, determination and grit and can’t wait for what the future may hold – could Paris Olympics’ be on the cards?

We can likely all agree that March Bank Holiday was much needed time for rest but 1MoreChild residents don’t pop their feet up with extra time – the house-proud bunch went to town with their spring clean. We have been in awe at the productivity and considered it a great time for us all to reflect too. The homes and the houses of our residents are stripped back to the absolute bare minimum – perhaps their bedroom has just the bed and a sheet – which they care for immensely and couldn’t be more grateful for. But just take the time to consider and reflect for a second on the luxuries of life here in the UK and just let it shine a little light on for how much we can take for granted – and perhaps a little inspiration to get your spring clean underway 😉

And finally, saving some amazing news for last. We couldn’t be prouder and more delighted to announce that one of our very first beneficiaries has graduated with a Diploma in Animal Production and Management – it is what our fund and awareness raising is all about and we are beyond elated. It all starts with a safe place to call home and to grown in a community of like-minded hardworking individuals that come together to push for an incredible future, together. Giving these children and young adults the opportunity to positively move forward is what it is all about and we cherish moments like these.
