October Has Flown By – Just Like Our Cyclists!
Our resident athletes have been busy, making impressive strides in their cycling pursuits. We’re thrilled to share the latest on their achievements! After competing in the U23 Continental African Championship in Kenya and cycling a grueling 33 kilometers, our athletes took the podium by storm. Paul and Lawrence delivered outstanding performances, bringing home both gold and silver in the individual time trials – a monumental accomplishment.
And the great news doesn’t stop there! Mary earned an impressive 5th place in the women’s U23 22-kilometer cycling event. We couldn’t be prouder of these athletes and their dedication. We’ll keep you updated as they continue their incredible journeys and bring home more successes.
Ride25: A Global Cycling Adventure with a Cause
Cycling plays a big role in 1moreChild’s awareness and fundraising efforts, and we’re always encouraging more people to get involved. With Ride25, you have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cycle the world – but you don’t have to tackle it all at once! The adventure is divided into 25 tours, each designed as a flexible, accessible challenge. Simply commit to one tour at a time and enjoy the ride.
Most tours span four days and cover between 70–90 miles per day – a great reason to invest in a comfortable saddle cover! Whether you join for the physical challenge, the camaraderie, the breathtaking landscapes, or the chance to support a good cause, Ride25 promises an unforgettable experience. Each evening is capped off with shared meals, laughs, and new friendships. It’s a fantastic chance to leave the day-to-day behind and explore the world from a whole new perspective, open to people of all abilities and backgrounds.
Tailoring Skills: Empowerment, Sustainability, and a Creative Outlet
Our residents are also honing practical, creative skills that enrich their lives and open future doors. Have you ever designed or tailored your own clothes? Imagine waking up one day and deciding to craft a shirt or dress that fits just the way you like. At 1moreChild, tailoring is an integral part of our residents’ daily activities. They’re learning valuable skills that will serve them well in a world where resources can be limited, and they’re truly embracing the experience.
What’s more, this skill fosters a sustainable approach to fashion. Rather than relying on fast fashion, our residents pass down their tailored clothes to the next generation, reducing waste and helping our planet. They’re excited by this creative process, and we’re excited to see them developing talents that not only serve them individually but also contribute positively to the environment.
