Bosco
Bosco is the co-director of 1moreChild and currently leading a team of staff at the orphanage. He has been with the charity since October 2009.
From his youth, he has been working with children and young adults as a Sunday teacher, youth leader and patron. Before joining 1moreChild, he worked as a social worker at child restoration outreach (CRO) Jinja, Uganda. During his time at CRO, he counselled the target group for behaviour change, home tracing and resettlement. He was also heading the department of social work.
As a child he struggled in the same way as the children he looks after. He uses his childhood experiences to encourage and pass on practical knowledge to the children and young adults. His motivation is seeing formerly disregarded and deprived individuals with low self esteem and providing leadership and role modelling in all aspects of life.
Bosco loves seeing children discovering their self-worth and being creative in solving their own challenges. He enjoys listening to children as they try to explore their environments. He’s pleased to see children being able to make contributions to their communities and not waiting for handouts.
Bosco is a father to four children (Tarsis, Deborah, Timon and Joshua) whom he is raising with his spouse, Esther.
Harry & Hen
Harry had many different jobs in a variety of fields before setting up his own building company in London. He loves enabling people to become self-sufficient and helping them realise their potential. For almost 20 years Harry has spent time working in Romania and the Ukraine with the under-privileged. Harry is married to Hen and they have two sons (Luke & William) and two daughters (Ella & Georgia).
Hen grew up in Johannesburg and then spent five years in the city of London working in hedge funds. She has a real heart for the poorest of the poor and seeing them regain their dignity and passion for life. She has worked in Cape Town in townships there and lived in the States for a year and a half, working with “inner-city” children.
