Our hands are blistered, and throats dry from the cheering this past month at 1MoreChild! Before the 2024 Olympics took the spotlight, we have been rooting for some truly incredible talent here in Uganda, from our very own residents.

Mary cycled in an international race and came 8th in the World and 3rd out of the African competitors – with more to come we will be cheering her every push and pedal along the way! This is an astounding triumph; her sheer determination and motivation is inspiring and it gets us beyond excited to see what the future holds for Mary.

Lorot Lowrence has been climbing the ranks – and the podium – to get 1st in the Elite Category at the Kaptagat Cycling Challenge, Lorot clocked an impressive time of 01:37:02! This time puts him ahead of the Ugandan entry into the Olympics for this year, which we think says a lot about his wonderful potential! Meanwhile, Losike Lochap managed a win in the Junior Boys category at the National Cycling Championships. There is no slowing this guy down and he’s only just getting started!… Watch this space.

Our sporting talent does not stop there! 6 residents of the 1moreChild house are training in the Federation of Uganda Football Associations as Ugandan Junior Referees, We just know they’re heading somewhere big and we are here for them every step of the way.

There have not only been sporting feats in the 1MoreChild household, but we are also so incredibly proud to announce two fantastic achievements for two of our girls. Alice has completed her 2-year nursing course and Pauline has completed her 2-year midwifery course – amazing successes that will benefit the local community. We are so grateful to see beneficiaries of 1MoreChild achieve and succeed in such a diverse array of careers and hobbies.

Achievements like these are only possible through donations received to 1MoreChild and we are incredibly thankful and honoured to be able to show and share you all where the funds go and the difference they truly make.
